Velma B. Johnson, 88, of Du Quoin, passed away at 1:25 P.M., Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at the Fair Acres Nursing Home in Du Quoin.
Velma had worked in the sausage kitchen at the Du Quoin Packing Company.  She was of the Pentecostal faith.
She was born January 7, 1917 at Jonesboro, Ill., the daughter of William D. and Della Mae (Toler) Knupp.
She married Charles Johnson in May of 1953 in Arkansas and he survives.
She is survived by her husband of Du Quoin, one daughter - Sharon Krack of Du Quoin, eleven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband - William "Buck" Griffin, three children - William Bill Griffin, John Donald Griffin, and Georgia Joan Scarber, three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 16, 2005 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Gerald Wright officiating.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 P.M., Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
